Setting: Cold, raining day. Fireplace roaring.
Need: A time for contemplation.
How: Open "Recipes for a Beautiful Life."

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Upon opening this wonderful book the reader will find beautiful pictures on every page as well as a passage from the Bible that relates to the scene. For example, (and my favorite), is a picture of two hands holding a very small baby. The child has the most charming look with eyes as wide open as they can get. One can't help but smile at the innocence. The passage below the picture says "Every good and perfect gift is from above. James 1:17." Need I say more?

This inspiring book serves as a road-map to a place within oneself. The passages are thought-provoking, effective, and powerful. Put together beautifully, Julie Keye and Madaline Hall present us a way to go into our inner thoughts, being grateful for who we are.

But there is more. The second part of the book was a pleasant surprise. There are actual recipes for home spa treatments made from natural ingredients that can be found in anyone's home. I really enjoyed this added touch and tried several of the treatments. I love them!

What an inspiring way to open up to God and find the beauty in all things, including ourselves! "Recipes for a Beautiful Life" by Julie Keye and Madaline Hall is a great book and I highly recommend it.

This review is from: Recipes for a Beautiful Life (Paperback)
In the beginning of this book our authors tell us that our minds and bodies work together and I believe that is true. They explain how it is important to recharge our minds through inspirational reading, prayer and relaxing, and this beautiful book will help you on that journey.

This work is written in two parts, the first is a collection of gracious pictures complimented with a Scripture verse. Many caught my eye and my heart as I read through the pages, but one stood out to me and that was the picture of a little girl smelling flowers with the Scripture verse:
All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old. It brought back memories of my childhood and how surely God has planned my life. I believe each picture and verse will quicken an emotion inside of each one as they turn the pages. Tender, thought provoking, and often bringing a smile inside and out. Very well done.

The second part of the book is: Relaxation and Home Spa Treatments. I really enjoyed this section as well. First I learned how to make beauty treatments with ingredients I had around the house or could easily get it I didn't, that was great. Second I could baby myself and walk away feeling refreshed.

All in all this is a delightful read. It is one you will cuddle up with time and time again just to have your Spirit renewed and help bring yourself to a refreshing. Very well done, a delight to both the Spirit and the soul.

“Recipes for a Beautiful Life” by Julie Keye and Madaline Hall was an absolutely beautiful read. The pages made you feel so comfortable, and they were so free-flowing that it didn’t take me anytime at all to finish it. The first part of the book begins with several key bible scriptures written on each page. And, accompanying these verses, you’ll find plush, “take-your-breath-away” images that truly compliment the words you are reading.

Moreover, the second part of the book features the actual recipes needed for a beautiful life.
Keye and Hall equips their readers with several techniques on how to pamper and reliev the stresses of their life…and, the best part is, all the ingredients can be found right in your home. No special trips to take, and no expensive ingredients to buy.

This book is a definite must-read, and one that I’ll be sharing with my family and friends.I give it 5 stars.  http://pamelareadz.wordpresscom

I'm mostly a fiction reader, but it can be so pleasant to just sit down with a photgraphy book and enjoy some mind-clearing visuals. "Recipes for a Beautiful Life" was a very relaxing book for me, and I loved how the photos were paired with complimentary verses of scripture--a picture of a father holding a child is captioned "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me" (Matthew 18:5), a shot of palm trees at sunrise reads "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon" (Psalm 92:12), a rainbow over churning water is paired with "I set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth" (Genesis 9:3), and so on. Sometimes, seeing God's word in tandem with images from his creation can really impress you with the wonder of it all, and this book certainly does a great job of presenting the reader with both scripture and lovely pictures.

Part two of "Recipes for a Beautiful Life" moves on to spa treatments and recipes for homemade beauty products. Bath treatments, moisturizers, facial masks and scrubs for all skin types are listed, and plenty of them look like something almost any woman would want to try out.

Overall, a sweet, enjoyable book with stunning photography, verses from God's word, and plenty of relaxation ideas for Mom's Day Off. :-)

This book is absolutely stunning. The pictures that illustrates each Bible verse are full of life and vivid color. The pictures themselves bring to mind God's awesome character. The added verses help to focus our minds on specific blessings and wonders. The authors have done a beautiful job with this book. It well represents God's beauty in this world. The receipes in the back are based on all natural ingredients and would be much easier on your body than prescriptions if you are willing to try them. Some are ment to simply soothe while others have more specific designs. I would rate this book a 4/5. It is lovely and would make a wonderful gift.

If you need a gift for a Christian woman, this is absolutely perfect. The first section of the book is full of beautiful pictures with scripture verses. The pictures are high quality and include landscapes, animals, plants/flowers, and people. The people represented are a variety of ages and races. The Bible verses are encouraging and well-chosen to compliment the photos. The second half of the book has easy home spa recipes and tips. I haven't had a chance to make any yet, but I am definitely going to try one of the bath recipes this week- I love chamomile tea, but I never thought about adding it directly to the tup for a relaxing soak! There are plenty of recipes for masks and soaks, and they include information about which skin type(s) they would be appropriate for.

Like I said, if you need a gift for your Pastor's wife, a secret angel, or your child's Sunday School teacher, this would be a great choice.  The website has some excerpts and free skin care recipes as well! Four stars for this relaxing read.

  • "Madaline and Julie have created a "time-out" for women in Recipes for a Beautiful Life. Enjoyable pictures and Scriptures, refreshing herbal bath treatments and rejuvenating homemade facial products encourage us to take a few minutes to renew our bodies and souls."
-Beth Lester, Owner, Home Staging Designs of California

"The authors urge women to take at least a moment every day to appreciate something beautiful, whether it be a child or a flower or a sunset. It’s important to eat healthy and exercise, she says, but it’s equally as important to nourish your mind and soul through prayer and inspirational reading. To inspire readers she has put together a collection of photographs and Bible verses. The author uses great photographs, and the verses that are paired with each one are quite fitting. The spa tips in the back are a real treat. I would read this and put it on my coffee table. It’s a quick read, something nice to flip through and to enjoy the photography. It’s also something nice to show to your friends."

This is a beautiful keepsake book for a relaxing night with a cup of tea. The book is full of gorgeous pictures and memorable verses from the Bible that will comfort you and leave you inspired. In the very back of the book, there are also homemade natural skin care remedies that can help you feel beautiful inside and out. The book is definitely one to buy and would make a great gift. Katherine Bartlett, Our Whiskey Lullaby www.ourwhiskeylullabyblogspot.com

Recipes for a Beautiful life is a compilation of Bible verses and beautiful color photographs that will inspire and comfort you.  The author has done a wonderful job of matching the verse with the photograph.  On a particularly difficult day I was comforted to see a beautiful picture of a little rock waterfall with the verse "He leadeth me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake." which is my very favorite verse (Psalm 23:2-3).

The second half of Recipes for a Beautiful Life is a collection of relaxation and home spa treatment recipes that you can make at home to pamper yourself. It includes a helpful page with herbs that can be used in the tub as well as information on moisturizers, oily/troubled skin and recipes for things like scrubs, masks, facials, washes and conditioners.  Each page has several photographs to go along with it that will make you smile and sigh with relaxation.

This is a great resource for anyone who is looking to begin making their own bath and body products. They are both simple and frugal.  The Bible verses and photography will inspire you improve your attitude as the bath and body products will help you feel refreshed and pampered.
